Recently I’ve been feeling quite down on myself and I’ve caught myself talking to myself in a negative way. It’s not just me that’s noticed the way I talk about myself, even my partner has commented that I’m often extremely negative and self-deprecating. Thinking about this objectively I’ve started to realise that I rely on this as a coping mechanism when I’m not happy. This isn’t something I’m going to be able to fix overnight but at least I’m aware to look out for it.
I’ve decided that I need to look after my physical and mental health a lot more than I have been up to now. I know that my body & mind deserve more love than I’ve been giving. To keep track of this and try to manage this better I’m going to write things here on my blog.
My basic plan to start off with is as follows:
- focus on my food intake more – making healthier choices and eating mindfully.
- exercise and move more – hit my 10,000 steps per day and try out a new class.
- mindfulness – use my meditation app more, especially if I notice negativity creeping in.
These might seem obvious for a lot of people but I’m starting off with the basics and building it up from there.
Next week I’m going to try a Cycle class at a local studio for the first time, wish me luck and I’ll let you know how I get on!
